Willingdon Island :- This It is the man made island near kochi port. It is named after Lord Willingdon, one of the British Viceroy and is separated by beautiful backwaters. Important Establishments like Govt. of India Tourist office, the Southern Naval Command Headquarters, the seaport, Naval Airport, Railway terminus, Customs House, Kochi Port office etc. are located here. Jewish Synagogue & Jew Town, Mattancherry :- It was built in 1568 and is the oldest Synagogue in India. It gives the great scrolls of old Testement and other evidences of jewish history preserved here are of great interest. The township around the synagogue is known for spice trade and curio shops The Koonan Kurisu Chapel, mattancherry :- In 1653, the Malankara Syrian Christians assembled here and pledged not to obey the Latin Archbishops or be under the Jesuits. This event resulted in division of Roman Catholics Christians of kerala. Earlier they were united under the fold of the Catholic Bava of the east. Dutch Palace, Mattancherry :-It was originally built by the Portuguese and gifted to Cochin Raja in 1555. the magnificent Palace gets the present name as the Dutch made several renovations and repairs in 1663. Cherai Beach :-The charming beach borders the Vypeen Island. Sometimes dolphins can also be seen on the beautiful beach. Paddy fields and coconut groves located nearby enhance the splendid scenic beauty of the area. Bolghatty Island :- The scenic island located in the kochi bay is known for the Bolghatty palace built by the Dutch in 1744. The palace has been converted into a hotel run by the KTDC. The lush green landscape with great views of the backwaters makes it an attractive picnic spot. There is a small golf course here. Vypin Island & Light House :- It is one of the most densely populated island of the country. The light house gives an inspiring view of the Cochin City and Aluva town. The island is accessible by boat services. Pallippuram Fort :- The fort was built by the Portuguese in 1503 and is said to be the first fort built in India by the Europeans.
